Counselling for Menopause and Perimenopause

Menopause and perimenopause (the years leading up to menopause) are natural, and some women go through with little or no issues; others will experience troubling symptoms.

Perimenopause usually starts from the mid-40s onwards but can happen in younger women too.

Signs and symptoms of menopause and perimenopause
  • Hot flushes
  • Night Sweats
  • Anxiety
  • Mood changes
  • Sexual problems
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Body aches
  • Weight gain

Because so many of the symptoms are embarrassing and taboo, many women feel too ashamed to talk about it or ask for help and feel alone.

How can counselling help women through menopause and perimenopause?

Counselling can be a valuable tool for women going through menopause, helping them to understand and manage the complex emotions that can arise during this time.

I can help you develop healthy coping mechanisms. This can include techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing, and cognitive-behavioural therapy, all of which can help to reduce the physical and emotional symptoms of menopause.

Counselling can also help address issues related to sexuality and intimacy during menopause. Many women experience changes in their sex drive and sexual function during this time, which can be a source of frustration and anxiety. I can help you explore these issues in a non-judgmental and supportive environment and offer strategies for improving intimacy and communication with your partner.

Ultimately, counselling can help women to feel more empowered and in control during menopause. By providing a space to explore their emotions, develop coping skills, and address any issues related to sexuality and intimacy, counselling can help women to navigate this challenging time with greater ease and confidence.

You can have counselling in addition to HRT or any other medical treatments, and you don’t need a doctor’s referral to attend counselling with me.
