MENTAL HEALTH MOT.  A ONE OFF SESSION TO HELP YOU GAIN CLARITY AND NURTURE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

As a psychotherapist I know many people don’t need weeks or months of therapy, but they could benefit from a few tools and techniques to improve their mental health and wellbeing.  I see many professionals who are burnt out and struggling with things like setting boundaries, people-pleasing or overthinking and they just need some insights and help to change.

The Mental Health MOT is a 90-minute, personalised session that provides clarity, practical tools, and a fresh perspective on your mental health. It’s more than a quick fix—it’s a thorough review of your current emotional state, stressors, and coping mechanisms, providing you with the strategies you need to move forward.

Whether you’re navigating work stress, relationship challenges, or feeling overwhelmed by life changes, the Mental Health MOT offers the space to recalibrate and realign with what truly matters to you.

IS Mental health MOT the right choice for me?

My mental health MOT is ideal for busy professionals, particularly those facing high levels of stress, burnout, or work-related anxiety. It’s also an excellent resource for women going through menopause who may be dealing with a host of physical and emotional changes that impact their mental well-being. Additionally, individuals facing significant life transitions—such as changes in personal relationships, career shifts, or a sense of disconnection will find this session valuable.

If you are experiencing any of the following, the Mental Health MOT may be the right step for you:

  • Workplace Stress & Burnout: Feeling overwhelmed by work pressures, deadlines, or the constant drive to succeed? The Mental Health MOT helps you identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop strategies to manage workplace stress and restore balance.
  • Relationship Challenges: Are you struggling with maintaining boundaries, having communication issues, or finding that your relationships are taking a toll on your mental health? This session provides a space to explore healthier relationship dynamics and coping mechanisms.
  • Life Purpose & Motivation: Are you out of touch with your life’s purpose or need direction? Together, we can explore what truly matters to you and how to realign your actions with your core values to find more meaning and motivation.
  • Menopause-Related Anxiety: Hormonal changes can significantly impact mental well-being during menopause, causing anxiety, irritability, or emotional overwhelm. This MOT offers tools to manage these symptoms and enhance your emotional resilience during this life stage.
How the Mental Health MOT Works

The process begins before our session. After purchasing the Mental Health MOT, you’ll receive a set of pre-session worksheets within 2 working days. These worksheets help you reflect on key areas of your life, including stress levels, emotional well-being, relationships, and overall life satisfaction. Completing these worksheets will help you compare where you are now to where you want to be.

Once I’ve reviewed your responses, we’ll schedule your 90-minute session, which can take place in Birkenhead, Chester, or online, depending on your preference. During the session, we’ll explore the areas highlighted by your worksheets in depth.  As a psychotherapist, I’ll guide you through the process of building more self awareness and insight into what’s going on for you.

Together, we will identify unhelpful thinking styles, such as negative self-talk or catastrophizing, and develop practical strategies to challenge and change these patterns. In addition, we’ll explore how your actions align with your core values—a key principle from ACT therapy. For many, simply reconnecting with their values and finding ways to live more authentically can bring about significant mental health improvements.  After the session I will send you some additional resources to work on in your time designed to reinforce the learning and insights gained in the session.

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of the Mental Health MOT, you’ll leave with:

  • Clarity: A deeper understanding of your mental health and the factors contributing to your stress, anxiety or low mood.
  • Personalized Tools: A set of practical strategies tailored to your unique challenges. This may include coping techniques for managing stress, tools for addressing unhelpful thinking, and actionable steps to improve emotional resilience.
  • A Personalized Action Plan: Following the session, you’ll receive a customized plan outlining specific actions to help improve your mental health and well-being moving forward. This plan will be designed to support you in navigating daily challenges and staying aligned with your personal values.

Frequently asked questions.
What if I’m not sure what’s causing my mental health struggles?

You don’t need to have all the answers before the session. The worksheets will help you reflect on different areas of your life, and during our session, we’ll work together to identify the root causes of any struggles you’re experiencing. The Mental Health MOT is designed to help you gain that clarity.

Is the Mental Health MOT the same as therapy?

The Mental Health MOT is not a traditional therapy service. Instead, it’s a one-off, in-depth session designed to give you a “snapshot” of your mental health and equip you with practical strategies to address immediate challenges. If you wanted to continue with therapy with me after your MOT that would be an option for you.

What if I need ongoing support after the session?

While the Mental Health MOT is designed as a standalone session, if you feel that you’d benefit from ongoing support, you are welcome to continue with regular psychotherapy sessions following the MOT.  Alternatively, you might want to have a review in a few months.

How long does it take to complete the worksheets?

The worksheets are designed to help you reflect on your goals so that the session can be tailored to you.  To get the most out of this process I would recommend allowing about 2 hours but you can take as long as you would like.

What happens if I don’t complete the worksheets before the session?

The worksheets are an essential part of the Mental Health MOT as they provide the foundation for tailoring your session. Without them, it’s difficult to personalize the session to your needs. If you’re having trouble completing them, feel free to reach out for guidance, and we can discuss how best to proceed.

How is this different from a stress management workshop?

Unlike generic workshops, the Mental Health MOT is a personalized, one-on-one session tailored to your specific challenges and needs. You’ll receive individual attention and leave with a custom plan designed to address your personal mental health goals, rather than broad stress management techniques.
