Meet Anna – A Therapist Who Truly Understands Anxiety
Hi, I’m Anna. I know firsthand how overwhelming anxiety can feel—I’ve been there too. For years, I struggled with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Social Anxiety.
But now, anxiety no longer controls my life. And when it does arise, I know how to manage it so it doesn’t take over.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping others break free from anxiety and regain control.
As a fully qualified therapist who has overcome anxiety myself, I understand the struggle: the overthinking, the inability to relax, the constant tension. But I also know the freedom that comes from learning how to manage anxiety effectively.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your worries, discover practical strategies, and start living life on your terms. Together, we’ll work towards helping you feel calm, confident, and in control.

What would life look like if anxiety didn’t hold you BACK?
Feeling confident and at ease in social situations
Waking up refreshed and ready to take on the day
Feeling calm and focused, even in stressful moments
Rebuilding self-confidence and enjoying social connections
Bouncing back from setbacks with emotional resilience
Having the courage to do the things you’ve always wanted to do
You don’t need a formal anxiety diagnosis to seek counselling. If anxiety is affecting your life, I can help and you don’t need to let your doctor know you are having counselling unless you want to.
In my 4+ years as a counsellor offering therapy I have helped many people recover from anxiety and I know that with the right help you can too. You don’t need to have a formal diagnosis of anxiety to attend counselling with me.

My approach to counselling
Anxiety is common, but everyone’s experience is unique. That’s why I tailor each session to your specific needs and goals. In our first session, we’ll explore what you’re looking for from therapy, what has (or hasn’t) helped you in the past, and create a plan that works for you.
For example some people like to have “homework” between sessions which could involve pushing yourself out of your comfort zone a little or simply noting down your thoughts and feelings each day. Others prefer to keep their reflections to therapy session – there’s no right or wrong.
There’s no set number of sessions you need to have and you don’t have to attend every week if that doesn’t work for you.
I primarily use a combination of three proven approaches:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Person Centred Counselling
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
The therapies I use
Here is a little introduction to the main approaches I use with clients - don't worry if you aren't sure which you prefer - we can talk about this on your first session.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)
CBT is a highly effective approach for managing anxiety. It focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that fuel anxiety. By learning practical tools to reframe your thinking and develop healthier coping mechanisms, CBT helps you regain a sense of control over your emotions and reactions. This evidence-based therapy is particularly effective for breaking cycles of worry and creating lasting, positive changes in how you approach challenging situations.
CBT is best for people who want structure and want to be "taught" techniques to help.
ACceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT offers a powerful way to address anxiety by helping you build a life aligned with your values. Instead of fighting to eliminate anxious thoughts, ACT teaches you to accept them as part of being human while focusing on what truly matters to you. Using mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and committed action, ACT helps you break free from the grip of anxiety and develop the flexibility to handle challenges with greater ease. It’s a compassionate approach that empowers you to live a meaningful, fulfilling life despite anxiety.
ACT is especially helpful for people at crossroads in their lives and to help find meaning in life.
Person Centred Therapy
When dealing with anxiety, Person-Centred therapy focuses on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel fully heard and understood. By fostering a supportive relationship, Person-Centred Therapy helps you explore your feelings, identify your inner strengths, and develop self-awareness. This approach empowers you to make choices aligned with your values, reducing anxiety and building confidence in your ability to cope.
Person Centred allows you to set the pace and choose the content of each session - my role is to listen and reflect back.
Not sure which is right for you? That’s okay we will explore what works best for you together.
